Melantrich
The Melantrich building was built in 1913 and has been a well known landmark on Prague's main thoroughfare for decades.

The Melantrich building on Prague's Wenceslas Square will forever be associated with one of the most significant periods in Czech history - Velvet Revolution.

On 20 November 1989,
Vaclav Havel addressed a crowd of half a million people gathered in Wenceslas Square
in the centre of Prague. Speaking from the balcony of the Melantrich publishing
house he encouraged the crowd to keep on demonstrating against the regime. The truth and love will always beat the lie and hatred
, he told
them.
